Common Mistakes to Avoid After a Fire
- FIRST, be certain the Fire Department & Fire Marshal has released the fire scene back to you.
- SECOND, just because the Fire Department & Fire Marshal release the scene, Do Not Enter until the Insurance Carrier has confirmed they are Not dispatching a Cause & Origin Team, often referred to C&O.
- In Tennessee, entering property prematurely can result in criminal charges, most notably referred to as “Pilfering”.
- Despite all the emotions, and the anxiety to try and find out if anything is salvageable, be aware, entering a fire damaged structure without the proper personal protective equipment can cause significant health side effects.
Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
